HOW DID YOU FIND US? Roar.YOUR MINI PROFILE
FULL NAME: Jeremy Chase Fitzpatrick
NICKNAMES: Jimmy, Fitz
BIRTHDATE & AGE: March 23, 1961; 50
OCCUPATION: Geneticist, Juniper employee and occasional agent
Jimmy mostly works in the lab, testing new strains of the “vaccine” and running genetic screens of the infected. Sometimes he is called into the field on retrieval and vaccination operations.
ALIGNMENT: Juniper
RESIDENCE: FITZ RESIDENCE
A brownstone, town home situated on a block of identical homes in the heart of Feverfew Square. Three bedrooms, two baths, living room, parlor and kitchen with dining nook.THAT SPARKLING REFLECTION
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: Jimmy does not seem very threatening. Standing only five feet, six inches of the ground, his body is thin and wiry. He keeps his brown hair short for the most part, and his dark brown eyes travel around a room, taking in every detail. He has surprising strength for a man his size, a result of years of martial arts training. Everything about his appearance is decieving, from his over large, clumsy looking feet to his apparent lack of muscle. All a facade.
While working he wears fitted suits and composes himself with an air of sophistication. In his free time, the nerd comes alive and he can spend hours locked in his bedroom researching one thing or another in his pajamas.
FACE CLAIM: Robert Downey Jr.AND THE HEART BREAKING TRUTH
PERSONALITY: Jeremy is an intelligent, somewhat awkward fellow that is more at home in a lab than working with others. He is quiet and thoughtful which has led to great success in Juniper’s genetic department. Jimmy has been with the “Project” since the beginning when it was nothing more than a good-natured attempt at protecting people from disease. He sees the augmented people of today as a regrettable side-effect and is dedicated to finding a way to “solve the problem”. His field work is limited but when he is in the field, chasing augments, he proves to be a clever, effective strategist.
The only time Fitz is not obsessing about his work is when he is with his children. He loves them dearly and tries his best to give them everything they want. They are not particularly close though. The death of their mother has driven a wall between them. At least, that’s why he thinks they are so distant.
AUGMENTATION: None for me please
FAMILY: Wife: Ruth Fitzpatrick (deceased; vaccinated)
Son: Jonathan ---- Fitzpatrick; 22 (augmented)
Daughter: Kimberly ---- Fitzpatrick;; 16 (augmented)
HISTORY:
Jeremy Chase Fitzpatrick spent his entire childhood in Primrose Hills. His family had been one of the first to settle the town and his relatives were sprinkled throughout the population. Naturally, he went to Mt. Carmine to pursue his studies in biology and genetics. Juniper opened their headquarters in Feverfew Square shortly after his freshman year began and he spent his college years interning for them and working on the vaccine. He remembers vaccinating many of his classmates and regrets it even now. He personally never received the treatment. By the time the idea of getting it for himself entered his mind the company was already beginning to find that it might not be as safe as they had thought it was. Some tests showed adverse reactions to the inoculation. Juniper never let these results go public- they seemed to be an isolated incident and after a few months of no more cases they continued to recommend the vaccine to the greater population.
After graduation, he applied for a full time position with Juniper and was accepted. A few years later he was running some of his own projects. His life was proving to be very fruitful, the only thing he lacked was a family. Jimmy spent all of his free time in the office working and it was there that he met the woman of his dreams. Ruth was a young technician who was just out of college. She’d found a job here fresh out of a four year institution in New York. They dated and fell in love, got married and had two beautiful children. Everything seemed perfect. Then they found out the truth about the vaccine.
Jon was ten years old and Kim was four when the word of these ‘augmentations’ reached Juniper’s ears. Jeremy, Ruth and the rest of the genetic department were pulled off of all of their projects to focus on these “kids with abilities”. He wondered if his own children had these strange powers. He had never received the vaccine but Ruth might have. When he asked his wife she lied and told him she had not received it either. She was not sure what direction this situation might take but she did not want to involve her flesh and blood in the affair. Jimmy never doubted her.
As the months turned into years, the company became more desperate for the team to produce results. After nearly five years they had only discovered that the vaccination had altered the gametes of those who received it and were beginning to pin down the location of the mutations in the children. There seemed to be four main regions which resulted in different types of abilities. All of these breakthroughs were useless to the CEO- he wanted a cure. The labs began to expand in the basement of the facility and “permanent test subjects” filled cells like a hospital wing. Ruth did not like the new direction and resigned in protest. Jimmy was too obsessed with finding the answers. Their relationship took a major hit and eventually they divorced. Ruth moved to Primrose Hills with the kids and Jimmy only saw them on weekends. He focused more heavily on his work to fill the void in his heart.
In 2006, they finally found the cure. It had taken Jimmy eight years to break down and actually infect a child with the original virus. It was unethical and terrible but his back was against the wall. When the child became ill he thought everything was lost- but miraculously he got better. He got better and had no powers. He immediately went to the CEO and earned himself a nice promotion and raise. The cure went public. Juniper immediately wanted to start some kind of crusade against what they called the infected but Jimmy tried to reason with them. There was not enough evidence to support that all of these kids were dangerous or plagued. They couldn’t force the cure on them. Especially considering the risk of illness and possibly death that came with it.
Everything seemed to run relatively smoothly for a year or two. Juniper continued to grow but that was to be expected and Jimmy tried to keep mostly to his lab work. They were always looking for new ways to manipulate the cure to make it safer but it proved to be a very difficult virus to muck with. Then in 2008 he was offered his first opportunity as an agent. The CEO of Juniper explained to Jimmy that they had created a small force of employees who helped vaccinators subdue the infected that showed violent tendencies. Kids who got scared when they went to get the shot, those that changed their mind at the last minute. Some of the infected had taken this small squad as a threat and retaliated by attacking Juniper employees. They had decided to meet force with force and had increased the size of this squad, creating the agent system. It was their opinion that his knowledge of the infected would prove to be a great asset in trying to capture them. He declined and threatened to resign if they continued to abuse these young people. Did they not realize that all of them were not dangerous? A few weeks later he changed his mind.
Ruth was found dead in her home one night that the kids stayed with Jeremy. The police said it looked like someone broke in to rob the place and killed Ruth out of surprise. Maybe she had threatened to call the authorities. Whatever had happened, they had smothered her and left with all of her jewelry and cash. The kids were distraught. Jimmy was heartbroken. He never got the chance to redeem himself in Ruth’s eyes. When a few fellow Juniper employees joined him for lunch in the cafeteria a few days later they gave him someone to blame for her death. They were agents and they told him of a string of employee deaths that had been orchestrated by the infected. Apparently former employees were game too since Liam Joansen had just been killed after quitting.
After that, Jimmy became a part-time agent. He’s spent the past few years dividing his time between the lab, field, and his home. He has no idea that both of his children are augmented.
